We are pleased to inform you of an important update regarding one of Moorea’s flagship properties: the Sofitel Moorea Ia Ora Beach Resort will undergo a comprehensive renovation program throughout 2025 and 2026.
A Transformation to Enhance Guest Experience
This ambitious renovation project demonstrates Sofitel’s commitment to maintaining its excellence standards while modernizing facilities to meet contemporary travelers’ expectations. The resort will undergo a phased transformation that will ultimately deliver an enhanced luxury experience on this magnificent island.
Detailed Renovation Schedule
The renovation begins with the lobby and spa areas, marking the start of the property’s transformation.
During this period, the hotel will be completely closed to undertake major renovations including:
- Continuation of lobby and spa renovations
- Complete refurbishment of the main kitchen
- Renovation of Pure restaurant
- Modernization of Vue bar
- Pool area enhancements
- Overwater walkways improvements
The resort will reopen with renovated facilities while continuing work on the interior of overwater bungalows.
Renovation continues with overwater bungalows, as well as some ocean view and garden bungalows.
Final phase focusing on completing the renovation of ocean view and garden bungalows.
The resort will fully reopen with all inventory available, showcasing its complete transformation.

Booking Impact:
- The hotel will be closed to all reservations from January 5 to March 31, 2026
- During other renovation phases, limited inventory will be available
- We recommend considering alternative properties on Moorea or other islands for clients traveling during closure periods
